PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a soft cold rolled steel sheet excellent in workability and to provide a method enabling low temp. coiling by the material equal to that of a heating furnace material even in the case this soft cold rolled steel sheet is produced by direct rolling. SOLUTION: This soft cold rolled steel sheet excellent in workability by direct rolling is the one having a compsn. contg., by weight, <=0.03% C, <=0.1% Si, <=0.5% Mn, <=0.03% P, <=0.02% S, <=0.04% Sol.Al and 0.001 to 0.006% N, also satisfying N%>=S%/5, furthermore contg. B in the range defined by the inequality of 11/14×N%-0.0004<=B<=11/14×N%+0.002, and the balance Fe with inevitable impurities.
