PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a foaming agent having improved solidification properties with time, hardly becoming solid mass even if the foaming agent is loaded and being preserved for a long time, having good fluidity and dispersibility to a resin or the like even after the passage of a long period and useful as the foaming agent for a low density polyethylene or the like by coating the surface of the foaming agent with aluminum hydroxide. SOLUTION: This foaming agent is preferably a powder having 1-50μm particle diameter and obtained by coating the foaming agent such as azodicarbonamide with aluminum hydroxide. The foaming agent is preferably produced by adding an aluminum-based coupling agent such as aluminum tris(ethyl acetoacetate) of preferably 0.05-0.5 pts.wt. to the foaming agent of 100 pts.wt., mixing the foaming agent with the coupling agent and heating the obtained mixture at the temperature of 30 deg.C to the degrading temperature of the foaming agent.
