PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain the subject antioxidant having heat resistance and sufficiently suppressed in volatility during its processing by making the molecular terminal of a polycarbonate have a specific terminal group and specifying its intrinsic viscosity. SOLUTION: The objective antioxidant is obtained by making (A) molecular terminals of a polycarbonate derived from a bisphenol have the terminal groups derived from a compound expressed by the formula [R1 is a single bond, a (substituted) 1-7C alkylene or alkylene ether; R2 to R7 are each H, a 1-9C alkyl, a 3-12C cycloalkyl, benzyl, a phenyl (ester)] and the intrinsic viscosity to 0.03-2.0 l/g. The antioxidant is produced, e.g. when the polycarbonate is obtained by reacting, according to the phosgene method, the ingredient A with (C) phosgene, by carrying out a polymerization reaction by adding the ingredient B as (D) a molecular weight regulator after adding the ingredient C. |
