PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To store slivers in a substantially frustrum of pyramid shape in stationary sliver trays without using cans. SOLUTION: A coiler mechanism C is movable in three intercrossing longitudinal, lateral and vertical directions X, Y and Z in a separated relation from a base frame. During sliver spinning, the coiler mechanism C whose vertical movement is stopped is moved alternately in the longitudinal and lateral directions in gently lengthened or shortened strokes. The spinning sliver from the coiler mechanism C is pressure contacted against the sliver that is already loaded in position to load a sliver layer. After finishing loading each sliver layer, the coiler mechanism C is lifted only by a preset distance, at which lifted level another sliver layer is formed. This operation is repeated, until the sliver is loaded substantially in a frustrum of pyramid shape on a sliver tray T.
