PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a composite insulator, its assembling method and a manufacturing method eliminating necessity for accurate dimensional control of the members and also necessity for two grasping processes when an end piece of metal and/or insulator sub-assembly is to be assembled. SOLUTION: An end piece of metal has a sleeve 2 to specify a hole 3 having a first diameter d1. An insulator sub-assembly 4 is equipped with a rod 5 made of plastic material insulated electrically and an insulator trunk 6 covering the external surface of the rod 5, and the end 7 of the trunk 6 has a circumferentially stretching, deformable ridge 10 formed on the external surface. The ridge 10 has a second diameter d2 greater than the first diameter d1. The insulator sub-assembly 4 is inserted into the hole 3 together with a spacer member 20, which deforms the ridge and specifies a temporary aeration hole for bleeding the air from the hole to be removed thereafter. |
