PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of controlling an air conditioner so that it does not give off offensive odor at the time of starting next operation by drying an indoor heat exchanger before stopping cooling operation to prevent mold or various germs from breeding. SOLUTION: An indoor heat exchanger 2 comprises a heat exchanger tube 7, which is connected to an electronic expansion valve 23 and branches at the entrance of the heat exchanger 2 into an upper heat exchanger 2a and a lower heat exchanger 2b, a valve 8, which is provided at the upper heat exchanger side to be opened and closed by driving means, and open-close covers 1a1, which are provided on a front suction opening la to be opened and closed by a motor 9, so that it is possible to dry the indoor heat exchangers sequentially from above by closing the valve and the open-close covers a predetermined time period before a controller stops cooling operation, then closing the electronic expansion valve and sequentially opening the open-close covers after a predetermined period of time elapses, thus providing an air conditioner which prevents mold or various germs from breeding and does not give off offensive odor at the time of starting next operation and a method of controlling the same. |
