VOLUME REDUCING APPARATUS FOR CUSHIONING MATERIAL

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a volume reducing apparatus for a cushioning material which can drill the cushioning material to reduce the volume of the cushioning material with the air sealed therein by advancing/moving a drilling member by providing a case in which the cushioning material is stuffed and the drilling member which is advanced/retracted to/from the cushioning material packed in the case and provided with a pointed portion to drill the cushioning material on the body of the volume reducing apparatus. SOLUTION: The body 12 of the volume reducing apparatus 10 comprises the case 14 in which the cushioning material 16 is stuffed, a nailed plate 38 with a large number of nails 40 fitted thereto, and an elevating/lowering device 50 to elevate/lower the nailed plate 38 with respect to the case 14. After the unnecessary cushioning material 16 is packed in the case 14, the nailed plate 38 is lowered by the elevating/lowering device 50, and the cushioning material 16 is drilled by the nails 40 to reduce the volume.
