PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow smooth telescopic travel of a pipe caused by difference in thermal expansion between the pipe and a body frame even when a roller supporting the pipe cannot rotate and reduce manufacturing cost of a support. SOLUTION: In a horizontally set pipe type heat exchanger, in which heat is exchanged between cooling water flowing through a pipe 3 horizontally arranged and supported at a predetermined axial position thereof by a frame body 1 and a high-temperature gas supplied to the exterior thereof, the pipe 3 is supported by the frame body 1 through a roller 10 having a circular contour cross section.
