<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To actualize a method for enabling a CATV decoder to decode XDS packet data normally even in the case of a parity error. SOLUTION: The number of frequencies of parity bits '1' (bit 15) of 2nd bytes of sequentially inputted XDS packet data is counted and the counted number of frequencies of succession is compared with a prescribed number of frequencies of succession, when the counted number of frequencies is less than the prescribed number of frequencies, parity checks on 1st bytes and 2nd bytes of the XDS packet data are made, but when the counted number of frequencies is larger than the prescribed number of frequencies, a parity check on only the 1st bytes of the XDS packet data is made. Then XDS packet data which have no parity error are decoded and the check sum of the data obtained by the decoding is inspected and data having no inspection error of the check sum are regarded as final data.</p> |
