PURPOSE: A simulation method for estimating the performance of an automatic transmission vehicle is provided to determine principal performances of a vehicle including the transmission performance before the real vehicle test, thereby reducing the development period and the development cost. CONSTITUTION: A simulation method(ST40) for estimating the performance of an automatic transmission vehicle includes a normal speed running mode for computing a fuel ratio when a vehicle speed is uniformly maintained, a city running mode for computing a fuel ratio when the vehicle runs along a set course in the city, a starting-acceleration running mode for computing a performance from when the brake pedal is released under an engine-idling or stalled state to when the acceleration pedal is fully pushed in a shortest time, an overtaking acceleration running mode for computing a performance when the acceleration pedal is fully pushed in a shortest time under a uniform speed is maintained at a certain stage, a running performance curve mode for computing the whole performance of the vehicle such as the driving force, the running resistance and the engine RPM, and a stalled RPM computation mode for computing a maximum engine RPM available when a turbine of a torque converter is stopped.
