<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for manufacturing toner which will not decrease electrification characteristics of a developer, even if the toner is repeatedly used over a long time. SOLUTION: In the method for manufacturing the toner produced directly by polymerizing a polyerizable monomer composition containing at least a metal compound of aromatic oxycarboxylic acid, a coloring agent, a low softening point material and polar resin in a water-based medium, the method includes a polymerization process having a first reaction stage and a second reaction stage for granulation or polymerization after the metal compound of aromatic oxycarboxylic acid, a coloring agent, a low softening point material and polar resin are dispersed in the polymerizable monomer composition. In the first reaction stage, a metal compound of aromatic oxycarboxylic acid soluble with an alkali solution of 9 to 13 pH is further added to the water-based medium, and the composition is polymerized, while keeping the pH of the water-based medium at a range of 4.5 to 9.0. In the second reaction stage, the pH is again controlled to 9 to 13 in during polymerization. Then the product is treated with an acid, while keeping the pH of the water-based medium to 1.0 to 2.5 pH, to precipitate the metal compound of aromatic oxycarboxylic acid in the water-based medium on the toner surface.</p> |
