PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a plastic ferrule with excellent dimensional accuracy. SOLUTION: The plastic ferrule 21 is composed of a cylindrical part 26, a holding part 27 and an inserting part 28. In the cylindrical part 26, an optical fiber inserting hole 25 and a hollow cylindrical hole 29 are formed. In the inserting part 28, a guide hole 24 for a coated optical fiber is formed. In the cylindrical part 26, a small diameter part 26b having a diameter smaller than that of the cylindrical body 26a is formed between the body 26a and a tapered part 26c. Consequently, the connecting point between the cylindrical body 26a and the small diameter part 26b is less affected by nonuniformity as in a cooling process or resin filling, enabling an excellent out-of-roundness to be realized without causing a flare in the edge part 26e.
