PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the transmission of vibration or noise of an engine to an automobile body in an exhaust system for the engine of an automobile. SOLUTION: A first pipe 13 is connected to an exhaust manifold 12 of the engine, a second pipe 15 is connected to the first pipe 13 through a universal pipe joint 14, and a center pipe 16 is connected to the second pipe 15 through pipe flanges 44, 46. A fixing boss 33 of the second pipe is elastically supported in a transmission coupled with the engine through an insulator. A rear O2 sensor 43 is fixed to the rear side of the fixing boss 33 of the second pipe 15. A flexible pipe 45 is installed in the vicinity of the pipe flange 44 of the second pipe 15, and a sub-muffler 52 is installed in the vicinity of the pipe flange 46 of the center pipe 16. The pipe flanges 44, 46 are elastically supported in the automobile body with a muffler hanger 50. By supporting the second pipe 15 in the transmission, the number of supporting parts of an exhaust pipe to the automobile body is reduced and thereby, the transmission of vibration and noise to the automobile is suppressed.
