PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a short range radio unit and a method for mutually authenticating short range radio units automatically or through recognition by a user. SOLUTION: Under a state where a plurality of units, each comprising a data communication means performing short range radio communication and means for authenticating the unit, are present, the authenticating means authenticates the units automatically or through recognition by a user when the units enter the range of radio wave generated from the opposite unit.
