PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a stairs ascending/descending device conveyed and operated by a stable riding state in which a user is seated on a seat and attaches a seat belt. SOLUTION: A guide rail 2 is provided along the ascending/descending direction of a stairs 1 and a seat 4 guided by a guide rail 1 and ascended/descended is provided. A driving mechanism 12 having a driving device 10 is provided along the ascending/descending direction of the stairs 1 to engage a seat 4 and the seat 4 is ascended/descended and driven by an action of the driving device 10. An attaching detection means operated when a user attaches a seat belt provided on the seat 4 is provided and a control circuit for urging the driving device 10 through an action of an attachment detection means is provided. Thereby, the seat 4 is not ascended/descended and operated when the user seated on the seat 4 does not wear the seat belt. Accordingly, an inconvenience that the user is conveyed by an unstable riding state is prevented.
