PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a composition for stabilizing a hair dyeing composition comprising an oxidation dye or a nitro group-containing direct dye with time in a hair dyeing composition comprising an alkali agent, the oxidation dye or the nitro group-containing direct dye and an antioxidant. SOLUTION: This hair dyeing composition is characterized in that the composition comprises the alkali agent, the oxidation dye or the nitro group-containing direct dye and the antioxidant, the amount of the antioxidant mixed in the hair dyeing composition is 0.5-3.0 wt.% and the antioxidant is composed of ascorbic acid and a sulfite in the weight ratio of ascorbic acid to the sulfite of 1:2 to 3:1 by weight.
