PURPOSE: Provided are a cathode for a lithium secondary battery, which is excellent in capability, power property, and cycle lifetime property, and a simple process for producing the cathode. CONSTITUTION: The cathode for the lithium secondary battery contains: a current collector; a cathode active material layer spread on the current collector and containing a cathode active material; a surface treatment layer formed on the cathode active material layer and containing a compound selected from the group consisting of metal hydroxide, metal oxyhydroxide, metal oxycarbonate, metal hydroxycarbonate, or a mixture thereof. And the cathode is produced by the process comprising the steps of: coating the current collector with the cathode active material composition; coating the coated current collector with a metal organic solution or a metal water solution, wherein the metal is selected from the group consisting of Mg, Al, Co, K, Na, Ca, Si, Ti, Sn, V, Ge, Ga, B, As, and Zr; drying the obtained current collector. |
