PURPOSE: A method for heat treatment of synthetic fiber filaments for wigs by heating conventional filaments at a temperature approaching the melting point of resin, quenching to normal temperature and then heating at 90 to 100deg.C is provided which can prevent over curl of imitation hair during permanent waving of the imitation hair at high temperature using hair setting devices. CONSTITUTION: Synthetic fiber filaments for wigs prepared by conventional methods are heated at a temperature approaching the melting point of resin used for the manufacture of the synthetic fiber filaments in the first stage, quenched to ordinary temperature after completion of the first heating and then heated at 90 to 100deg.C in the second stage. The resin is polyester or polyethylene terephthalate and the first heating temperature is 180 to 190deg.C.
