PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a metering accuracy and to improve a quality of a product by smoothly supplying a material pellet into a heating barrel in an injection unit for an injection molding machine. SOLUTION: The injection unit for the injection molding machine comprises a screw 3, and the heating barrel 1 having a recess 5 provided between an inner peripheral part partly enlarged in an inner diameter thereof on a periphery of a material supply port 2 and an outer periphery of the screw 3 so as to intrude the material pellet while its shape is maintaining. In this case, a depth (G) of the recess 5, a range (W) of an axial direction and a range (θ) of a circumferential direction are preferably set so as to satisfy G>=1.2.D, W>=1.2.L, andθ<=180 deg. in response to a value (D) of a maximum part of the diameter of the pellet, and a length (L) of the pellet.
