PACKET INFORMATION COLLECTOR AND ITS METHOD

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a packet information collector capable of reducing load to be imposed to a host CPU at receiving packets from a communication network and collecting packet information. SOLUTION: The packet information collector is provided with a buffer part 22 built in a memory allowed to be accessed from a communication board, a BD queue part 23 built in the memory and capable of storing a buffer information descriptor indicating a specific storage area in the buffer and a control part 21 for specifying a storing address of the packet by the descriptor and characterized so that a communication board 11 writes a packet received from a communication network 2 in the intra-buffer storage area specified by the descriptor.
