PURPOSE: A device failure managing system in a home network system is provided to collect and manage failure information of each device efficiently and unitedly while a plurality of devices connected by a network operate. CONSTITUTION: A plurality of devices(100) are various digital audio and video equipments such as a DVD(Digital Versatile Disk) player, a DTV(Digital TV) and the like which are connected through a network(200). Each device(100) includes a messaging system(110) of an IEEE1394 interface standard, a system software element(120), an FCM(Functional Component Module)(130) and an application(140), an HAVi(Home Audio/Video interoperability) operation program. The devices(100) also include a failure managing FCM(150) and connected to a failure managing agent(300) by the network(200). A central communication network managing center includes a failure manager(400). When collecting failure information of each device from a plurality of devices(100), the failure device(400) connects to the failure managing agent(300) by using TCP/IP(Transmission Control/Internet Protocol) and then orders the failure managing agent(300) to provide the failure information of each device. The failure managing agent(300) analyzes the order from the failure device(400) and requests the failure information from the failure managing FCM(150) within devices(100) through the network(200) according to the order. The failure information from the failure managing FCM(150) is provided to the failure managing manager(400) via a failure managing agent(300).
