PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve operability of an endoscope to observe a diseased area from an incision during a surgery by obtaining a light source to illuminate the area for observation at a place separate from an outside light source. SOLUTION: The endoscope 10 with a mirror 15 attached to the end of a supporting part 12 extending from a grip 11 is equipped with a light guide 20 made of a transparent body and stretching along an axis of the endoscope to the proximity of the mirror. Illuminating light R of high-luminance beam to illuminate a surrounding area of the incision 5 is taken inside the light guide while using side surfaces of the light guide and/or an end surface on the grip side as an incident side of the illuminating light and the other end and/or peripheral surface of the other end as its output side, is transmitted to the other end, and illuminates r1, r2 near the diseased area A of the periphery of a scope of the mirror 15. There is no restriction on a material for the light guide, but an acrylic resin is suitable.
