PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for controlling a zoom lens of a camera of a mobile communication terminal are provided to control the zoom lens of the camera so as to photograph an object in good composition. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for controlling a zoom lens of a camera of a mobile communication terminal includes a controller(111) and a camera unit(131). The controller generates the first control signal when a signal of requesting the zoom lens to move upward or downward is detected, and creates the second control signal when a signal or requesting the zoom lens to move to the left or right is detected. The controller generates the third control signal when a signal of requesting the zoom lens to move forward or backward is detected. The camera unit moves the zoom lens upward or downward in response to the first control signal, and moves the zoom lens to the left or right according to the second control signal. The camera unit moves the zoom lens forward or backward in response to the third control signal.
