The method involves digitizing a video image (102) of a scene (7) of a real landscape (P) by associating a digital value with each of pixels of the image. A panoramic three-dimensional (3-D) image (P`) of the landscape is elaborated, and virtual object images (110) in a virtual image base are elaborated. The 3-D image is merged with the object images to obtain a merged image (111). An image to be visualized (116) is elaborated from the merged image on a monitor (M) of a shooting simulator. The image to be visualized is superimposed with the digitized image on the monitor. An independent claim is also included for a simulator comprising a unit for implementing an image processing method.
