PURPOSE: A method and an apparatus for displaying brightness, and a digital photographing apparatus using the same are provided to display brightness information corresponding each vertical line and each horizontal line, thereby intrinsically grasping brightness information according to each location or area. CONSTITUTION: A horizontal axis brightness calculator(73) calculates a brightness value based on a brightness component of an input image. A vertical axis brightness calculator(74) calculates a brightness value of a vertical axis based on the brightness component of the input image. A histogram generator(75) generates histograms of the vertical axis and horizontal axis.
