Optical quality control system for controlling the quality of a high refractive index solid (2), comprising a container (4) configured to receive the solid therein, a structured light source (30), an optical inspection zone configured for receiving an optical device (10) or an eye of a human observer, and a high refractive index liquid (12) for insertion in the container in a volume sufficient to fully immerse the translucent solid. The structured light source is configured to project a planar light fan (20) through the high refractive index solid immersed in the high refractive index liquid generating a illuminated cross-section (18) in the solid. The optical inspection zone is arranged at a top end of the container adapted for inspection of the illuminated cross-section in a direction transverse to a plane (P) defined by the planar illuminated cross-section. |

1. An optical quality control system for detecting a defect in a light permeable high refractive index solid, with a refractive index greater than 1.6, the quality control system comprising:
a container configured to receive the solid therein; a structured light source; an optical inspection zone for receiving an optical inspection device or for allowing a human observer to inspect by eye said high refractive index solid received in the container; and a high refractive index medium with a refractive index greater than 1.6 for insertion in the container in a volume sufficient to fully or at least partially immerse the high refractive index solid, wherein the structured light source is configured to project a planar light fan through the high refractive index solid to generate an illuminated cross-section in the high refractive index solid and wherein the optical inspection zone is arranged for inspection of an immersed portion of the illuminated cross-section in an inspection direction transverse to a plane (P) defined by the planar illuminated cross-section, and wherein at least a part of the support structure and the light source transport system are arranged within the container and in that the structured light source is arranged within the container. |
