Racing shoe comprises, mounted along the edge of the front portion of the sole, gripping elements in the form of bristles (1) which have at least one support surface (3) spaced from the end embedded in the sole. Compared with the remaining piercing surface of the gripping element, the support surface defines a more obtuse angle with the sole. The area covered with bristles extends from the outer ball region, over the toe region and into the ball region, and is wider in the toe region than at the side edges. The distance between bristles pref. comprises not less than 7-10 mm.
