PURPOSE:To isolate a novel antibiotic substance from a culture and use the antibiotic substance as a remedy for mycosis, etc., by cultivating a microorganism, belonging to the genus Streptosporangium and capable of producing the titled novel antibiotic substance. CONSTITUTION:A strain, belonging to the genus Streptosporanium, e.g. Streptosporangium sp. SF-2381 (FERM-P No.8299), is cultivated in a culture medium containing glucose, dextrin, soybean flour, peptone, inorganic salt, etc., under aerobic conditions. Microbial cells are removed from the culture fluid, and the resultant product is adsorbed from the filtrate in an adsorbent and eluted with methanol to afford the aimed antibiotic substances SF-2381A and/or SF-2381B. The resultant substances exhibit the following properties respectively; Melting point; 151-153 deg.C and 150-153 deg.C. Soluble in water and methanol and insoluble in acetone and chloroform. White powder, etc. The substances have powerful antimicrobial activity against fungi. |
