The solenoid has a slide which suppors two parts of a toothed rack. The slide is attached to a load and to a solenoid which produces an alternating movement. To the solenoid is attached a shaft which carries a pawl which engages in the teeth of one of the parts of the racks. Another pawl is connected to a fixed part of the device so as to engage into the teeth of the other part of the rack. The parts of the racks are respectively formed on two parallel arms which are connected to the slide and extend towards the solenoid.
