<p>A slot wedging arrangement for the armatures of d c machines to assist in reducing the commutating reactance, with the tooth tip dimensioned from the mechanical considerations only. The tooth tip neck width (bF) should not exceed one third of the tooth width (bH), and the tip height (hK) should be no more than 6 mm. With such a construction the leakage flux across the top of the slot is greatly reduced, and the saturation of the tip is of no great significance. The slot wedge (6) spans part of the teeth as well as the slot, and the design also permits the use of a channel shaped wedge which would allow the winding to project into the air gap.</p> |
