Pyrolysis of organic waste with substantial inorganic content - with recovery of organic chemicals and fuels

Mixtures of organic waste materials in particulate form, contg. up to 10% inorganic material, with hot animal or bone carbon, are pyrolysed at 150-1400 degrees C in an inert (e.g. N2) gas stream, with dewll time 0.05-10 s. The organic chemical and fuel prods. are sepd. from the carbon, part of which may be reheated and recycled to the pyrolysis zone. The organic waste material used contains 10-70 wt.% inorganic matter. Cost of pre-sorting waste (e.g. household refuse) to reduce the inorganic content is eliminated and raw materials (e.g. waste paper) with inorganic filler content can be used.
