The parent application 2318601 discloses a method or producing sieve plate which is exposed to high wear, by applying a wear resistant coating to a non-perforated sheet by automatic arc welding, and providing the coated plates with holes by plasma cutting from the direction of the base plate. In this division of the coating is provided by automatic arc welding in which an endless low alloy wire electrode is moved in oscillating fashion over the base plate in longitudinal as well as in the direction of feed to form an arc with the plate while at the same time a weld material in powder form is fed continuously and proportionally to the electrode feed to the region of the arc so as to form a molten alloy.
