The process relates to the preparation of aminoalkyl 2,6-di-lower- alkyl-4-substituted-phenyl-1,4-dihydropyridine-3-carboxylate derivatives of the general formula in which R is a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group; R<1> and R<2> can be identical or different and each is a lower alkyl group; R<3> is a phenyl group or an aralkyl group, each of which can have a substituent; R<4> is a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group; A is a lower alkylene group; R<5> is a lower alkyl group, a lower alkoxy group which can be substituted by a lower alkoxy group, or an R<6> is a nitro group or a trifluoromethyl group. The aminoalkyl esters are prepared by reacting a corresponding halogen compound with an amine of the formula R<3>-NH-R<4>. The compounds have excellent cerebrovascular dilating activity.
