When the charging operation is completed the converter is rotated to its normal vertical position within the enclosure 16 and the charging opening 28 closed by a pair of hingeably (see Figs. 2 and 3, not shown) or slidably mounted doors 51, 53. The fume collection hood 50 may include a pair of downwardly extending legs 52, 54 of U-shaped section at opposite sides of the opening 28, said legs communicating at their upper ends with exhaust conduits 56, 58.</p> |
