<p>The connecting system is for the vertical struts of a tower crane, with a small degree of vertical adjustment possible at each joint. Each of the metal struts is of rectangular section and is split at two levels horizontally at the joint, each resulting triangular area being linked by a vertical step. The struts are located laterally by dowels in each of the mating horizontal faces. The vertical step on each part has another step in its face, for contact by an inserted wedge which is used to lever the faces apart. The wedge has an attached threaded stud, which is used to draw the wedge towards one corner and press the complementary faces apart, to adjust the height of the strut.</p> |
