<p>Waste rubber and plastic treatments involved 3 sep. stages, melting in extruders, pyrolysis at a temp. higher than melting temp., and dry distn. at a temp. lower than the pyrolysis temp. In an example, low d. polyethylene was melted in an extruder (hopper 50 degrees, 1st cylinder 150 degrees, 2nd cylinder 250 degrees, 3rd cylinder 350 degrees), extruded into a pyrolyzer at 550-600 degrees, and dry distd. at 250-300 degrees. The liq. distillate after sepg. from gas components was composed of light (b. 150 degrees) 10, medium (b. 150-250 degrees) 85, heavy (b. >250 degrees) fraction 5%, compared with 40, 30, and 30, resp., for distillate obtained from heating the sample at 600 degrees in a single app.</p> |
