Working platform adjustable on vertical support - slews and slides on column travelling on top and bottom rails and has lifting mechanism and locking device

The working platform is adjustable for height on a vertical support. It is particularly for use during the manufacture of chemical reactor vessels in the form of large diameter horizontal cylinders. It comprises a vertical column (18) fixed at top and bottom to bogies (20, 52) running on horizontal rails (22, 28) fixed to the support (10). An overhung platform (66) slides and slews on the column, and a lifting mechanism (72, 74) is provided. Locking devices are also included, to prevent these movements when desired. The top bogie can have two wheels on horizontal spindles, the travel movement being effected by hand, using a chain drive acting on one of the wheels.
