When one rolls up so-called self-expanding booms after use in connection with for example oil spill recovery, there is usually time-consuming preparatory work to turn the oil boom to a flat rollable form, including the evacuation of air from the floating devices and the compression of the expansion units. The purpose of this invention is to simplify these operations and to reduce the time for the roll-up work and it also suggests the arrangement of a compression unit in the form of angled converging plates between which the boom is pulled by means of a roll-up mechanism. The evacuation of air and the compression of the expansion unit occur continually during the pulling of the boom between the plates. <IMAGE> |
