The invention relates to a cable bushing having strain relief. Such a cable bushing consists essentially of a bushing sleeve which is firmly inserted into a housing aperture, and to a clamping element which is inserted into the sleeve and surrounds the cable. The cable bushing allows electrical connecting cables to be passed through the housing wall into the interior of electrical apparatuses or machines. In the event of external tension on the cable, the tensile force is transmitted via the sleeve to the housing and the electrical conductors, and thus the connecting terminals inside the housing, are therefore freed of the tensile force and thus, for example, cannot accidentally be pulled off. The actual clamping or tightening device of the clamping element is a clamping strip which rests on the cable over a part of the cable circumference. One end of the clamping strip is fixed with respect to the sleeve. The other end of the clamping strip is on a head part of the clamping element, which can rotate with respect to the sleeve and can be latched in the respective rotation position. Rotating the head part with respect to the sleeve in the one direction produces clamping and in the other direction releases the cable.
