PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a surface position detection method of a metal body having swarf thereon which can detect a surface position of the metal body in a state that the swarf after cutting is placed thereon, and a device.SOLUTION: A distance from a prescribed height direction position up to a surface of a metal body having swarf thereon is scanned in a metal body width direction and a length direction, and measured by a laser range finder, the metal body width direction is divided into a plurality of areas, the farthest value out of measurement values of the distance at each of a plurality of the divided areas is acquired, a median value of the farthest value calculation step at each width direction area and the obtained farthest value is set as one temporary distance value in the length direction position, processing for obtaining the temporary distance value is performed in all the length directions, the temporary distance value in each length direction is set, the median value is calculated from the temporary distance value in a certain length direction position and temporary distance values in a plurality of fore-and-aft positions, and the median value is set as a distance up to a surface position of the metal body except for the swarf in the length direction position.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 2 |
