An auxiliary adhesive layer (2) is applied to an auxiliary support (1). Then flock fibres (3) are fixed in the auxiliary adhesive layer, either continuously or in accordance with a predetermined pattern. The flock pile thus formed is then printed with one or more colours, preferably with the use of a screen printing process. Finally, a melt-on adhesive is applied to the coloured flock pile, which serves to attach the flock pile to a definitive substrate (5). The flocked auxiliary support produced in this manner is then applied to a substrate, at a suitable temperature and under a suitable pressure, in such a manner that the melt-on adhesive together with the fibres remains adhering to the substrate. The auxiliary support (1) with the auxiliary adhesive layer (2) and the remaining fibres, if any, are then pulled off. The flock pile remains fixed on the substrate in accordance with the predetermined pattern. For multicolour prints, flock fibres with a length of between 0.5 mm and 0.6 mm are preferably used.

|
