PURPOSE:To attain stable positioning of a magnetic head in high speed by applying speed and position control in case of a large cylinder seek and attaining positioning only with position control in case of a small cylinder seek in a magnetic disc driver provided with a positioning access system. CONSTITUTION:A modified position error signal 13 is a signal to generate a pseudo position error signal 2' to a position error switching section 15, and a switch drive circuit 100 is so designed that a speed control mode signal 8 is made ineffective when a small track signal 14 is inputted and the position control is conducted in the position control mode by using the position error signal 2'. Thus, when the cylinder seek number is less than a prescribed number A, since the positioning of the magnetic head is conducted only with the position control mode by eliminating the speed control mode, the positioning is attained only with one operation. |
