An automatic washing machine comprises a washing agent flushing-in device (4) which is hydraulically coupled to the upper region of a liquor container (6) and the content of which can be conveyed into the container by water from a switchable feed valve (3). An outlet duct (10) which contains a pump (13) for conducting liquor out of the container is coupled to the container at its lowest point and extends to an outlet level (15) above the highest filling point (7) of the container. The pump (13) is drivable in such a manner during and/or for a time, which is short in comparison with the duration of the washing program, after the transport of the content of the flushing-in device (4) into the container (6) that the water column in the outlet duct (10) does not reach the outlet level (15). At the end of the or each operation of the pump the water raised an outlet duct (10) flows back into the container thereby washing any washing agent in sump (11) into the container. <IMAGE> |
