An installation for pneumatically conveying material has a pressure container in which a stock of the material is held, a conveying line which is connected to the outlet end of the pressure container, and a flap in the outlet end, having an operating cylinder. In the case of a greater requirement for material, the operating cylinder opens the flap and vice versa. The material can cake in the conveying line and block the latter. The pressure in the conveying line increases as a result. The development of these blockages is to be avoided with the invention. For this purpose, the pressure in the conveying line is measured. In the case of an increase of the pressure as a result of a developing blockage, the normal control of the flap is overridden and the operating cylinder is acted upon by pressure in the closing direction of the flap. By this means, the mixing ratio of material to conveying air is altered in favour of the air. The conveying line is blown free.
