PURPOSE:To reduce the number of waveguides and the number of switches in the output side to miniaturize a device by using a semiconductor waveguide to integrate a wavelength converter, an optical coupler/distributor, and a wavelength selecting element into one body. CONSTITUTION:A wavelength converter 8 is used to convert wavelengths of i-number of input optical signals, and a wavelength multiplexed optical signal is distributed to j-number of optical signals by an optical coupler/distributor 11 and is sent to all output ends by one waveguide. The number of waveguides in the output side is reduced, and one wavelength selecting element 12 is provided for each output terminal to reduce the number of switches, and the wavelength converter 8, the optical coupler/distributor 11, and the wavelength selecting element 12 are integrated into one body by the semiconductor waveguide. Thus, the device itself is miniaturized and the work for production is reduced. |
