A contact element for a rotatable electrical power transmission element has a cylindrical sliding ring (2) and an axially directed connecting tab (5) which is provided thereon. In order to achieve a sliding surface which requires no reworking on the sliding ring (3) in a simple manner, the sliding ring (2) and the connecting tab (5) are constructed integrally with one another and, in addition, a circumferential edge (6) of the sliding ring (2) is directed radially outwards over at least a portion of its length. In consequence, the contact element can be produced in a simple manner by deep-drawing of an annular plate with a radially integrally formed connecting tab, when the circumferential edge (6) is clamped in the deep-drawing tool and the sliding ring (2) is pulled through in the axial direction, and the connecting tab (5) is bent in the opposite axial direction. <IMAGE>
