A pneumatically based drive source which operates by reversing the alternately repelling piston unit according to the characterising features of claim 1 and the description. The means of delivery fed in under pressure is, to a qualified extent, fed in only once. Consumption losses occur solely due to leaks in the system and need to be made up. Where an extremely high number of kW are not required from a very small source, as can be obtained, for example, with combustion engines or electric motors, this economic and environmentally friendly drive should be a durable and cost-effective alternative which can be used for many purposes.
