<p>The voltage potential and E-field occurring at the site of a circuit discontinuity (98) is detected in a string of light bulbs (1--R, R+1--N). A signal Vac is applied across the string. Capacitive pickups (90, 92) are connected in series to an LCD annunciator (100). The pickups (90, 92) are coupled to the string so as to bridge the discontinuity (98). When the E-field, generated by the discontinuity (98), is above the threshold energy level required by the LCD annunciator (100) the fault condition is indicated to the user.</p> |
