The instrument automatically measures the location of a repeatedly operating machine using a computer and a sensor. The instrument includes a sensor (4) for sensing the distance to a measuring object (5), a converter (2) for changing analog signal from the sensor (4) to digistal signal, computer (1) for outputting controlling signal to compare it with the reference position for measuring object (5), a interface (3) for controlling signal exchanges between a computer (1) and the object (5).
