The multiple use cable (1) runs between a sea-bottom device and a reel on the deck of a surface ship. The central element (6) of the cable contains a strain relief element (7) surrounded by electrical conductors (8) and a protective insulating layer (15). The central element is surrounded by several layers containing pipes (5) of equal diameters. The first layer (9) of six pipes has an outer plastic mantle (10). The second layer (11) has twelve pipes and its own mantle (12). The third layer (13) has eighteen pipes and a thick outer mantle (14).
